Job Summary/Basic Functions
The Coordinator for the Center for Inclusive Excellence and Global Engagement (CIEGE) will work collaboratively with the CIEGE team and various campus partners to support the center’s mission, which is to enhance inclusivity, global engagement and student success at Eastern Kentucky University. In close cooperation with the CIEGE Director, the Associate Director for International Student Success and the Bilingual Outreach Coordinator, the coordinator will be responsible for providing a variety of engagement opportunities for students. This includes leading initiatives and campus-wide events that are designed to improve the student experience from admission to graduation.
The coordinator will also focus on fostering student leadership and involvement, helping students feel a strong sense of belonging on campus. This includes working with and advising student organizations, as well as supporting their development and engagement activities. Additionally, the coordinator will oversee operational functions within the CIEGE office, including managing communications, scheduling events and coordinating space reservations for the center and associated student organizations.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Student Personnel Services, Higher Education Administration, Social Work or a related field is preferred.
Experience:
A minimum of one year of experience is required for this position.
Licensure & Certifications:

Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates with relevant experience in student engagement and leadership, diversity and inclusion efforts or higher education administration are highly preferred.
Job Responsibilities/Duties
- Program Coordination and Leadership (60%):
The coordinator will be responsible for leading and organizing various programs and initiatives hosted by the CIEGE. This includes overseeing the planning and execution of events such as heritage celebrations, history-related activities and awareness month programming. These programs aim to promote inclusivity and cultural understanding among students and the university community. - Student Support and Advocacy (15%):
A critical part of this role involves supporting Eastern Kentucky University students, particularly those involved in student organizations. The coordinator will serve as a mentor and advocate, helping students navigate issues related to their sense of belonging and personal challenges. This includes providing encouragement and being a resource for problem-solving, ensuring that all students feel supported throughout their university experience. - Communications and Space Management (10%):
The coordinator will manage all internal and external communications for CIEGE. This includes overseeing the distribution of a weekly newsletter, updating the center’s website and handling posts on platforms such as Engage, Slate and EKU Today. In addition, the coordinator will be responsible for scheduling and managing space reservations for CIEGE events and for student organizations affiliated with the center. - Collaboration and Recruitment Events (10%):
The coordinator will work closely with the CIEGE team, the Division of Student Affairs and the Enrollment Management team on recruitment events. These events will focus on fostering a sense of belonging and will include sessions on transitioning from high school to college, as well as discussions on student success. The coordinator will also facilitate engagement and visit opportunities for prospective students, ensuring representation and involvement between CIEGE and incoming students. - Additional Duties (5%):
The coordinator may also be called upon to perform other duties as assigned, which will support the evolving needs of the university’s student body and the Division of Student Affairs. This may involve taking on additional responsibilities to address student concerns or contribute to broader divisional goals.
